So its official now. The year 2008 begins with a lot of hot and happening stories. First in the news is Shilpa Shetty, who got a renewed lease of life after her win in the reality television show, The Big Brother. Can you imagine, she has made an official announcement of her affair with a married NRI businessman by the name of Raj Kundra. I mean, how wannabe can one get?
Let's take a look at other news stories circulating on the first day of the year 2008.

Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met fame is directing a film starring actor Saif Ali Khan which will also be produced by Saif Ali Khan. His hit film Jab We Met had Kareena Kapoor as heroine. Kareena Kapoor is the current girlfriend of Saif Ali Khan. So obviously, the new film will star Kareena with Saif, right? Wrong. Boss, Imtiaz has lost it right in the beginning of the new year. imagine taking money from the guy to direct a film and not taking his girlfriend as heroine. Guts, boss guts.

Aishwarya Rai still thinks that the world is keeping a watch on her every move. I mean the pregnancy issue is long forgotten ma'm Ash. The world has moved on. But try telling that to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! She is still going around giving statements that none of all that is true. Hmm, makes you wonder why she is going out of the way to deny something like that, eh?

Amitabh Bachchan is proud that Hollywood laughs at Indian films. He has been very vocal about the fact that he doesn't like his film industry to be called Bollywood. Fair enough. But then he goes and makes a statement that the west has started to accept Hindi films and the song and dance cinema that we make, even though they laugh at us.
Duh!! What is there to be proud of Mr Bachchan? The world has accepted the existence of Taliban and Al Qaeda too. So?

Krissh Director Rakesh Roshan is trying to make news by giving statements saying that he is doing a film wBah! What's the big deal Mithout Hritik Roshan. (He is only producing it by the way) r. Roshan? Lots of people make films without Hritik Roshan.

Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are still at it- Fighting each other over something. This time it is the dream role of Jhansi Ki Rani.Aishwarya Rai is signed to play the role in Ketan Mehta's film on Rani LaxmiBai and Sushmita Sen is producing her own film on Jhansi Ki Rani.

Talking about producers, Sony Pictures have not really learned anything from their disaster of a movie called Sawariyaa. They are announcing some more films in 2008. Well, guess some people just don't learn.

And if it is news we are talking about then how can Rakhi Sawant be left behind. Now imagine this. Item girl Rakhi Sawant was performing at the Tulip Star on the 31st December 2007. At the same time Bipasha Basu was performing at the JW Marriot. Comeon there is no comparison, is there? One is a mainstream heroine and the other at best an item girl. Sorry friends, you have got it all wrong. Tulip Star charged Rs. 16000 as entry fees and JW Marriot charged Rs. 12000 as entry. Guess, which hotel got more patrons? Rakhi Sawant at the Tulip Star. So the winner of the year 2007 is Rakhi Sawant.
