Happy Valentines Day from BollywoodGossips.

Bollywood Stars have their own plans to celebrate Valentine's Day and here we have some of them for you:

Bollywood Actress Aishwarya Rai: 'I'll be attending the premiere of Jodhaa-Akbar in Delhi on Valentine's Day, but Abhishek will be with me. So no complaints.'

Priyanka Chopra: 'I don't believe you need a reason or a particular day to say you love someone. When you're in love every day is special.'

Bipasha Basu: 'We're going for a short trip to Cape Town. For the last three years on Valentine's Day John and I have been in different countries. I'm looking forward to this flash holiday.

Farhan Akhtar: 'Since I'm shooting for 'Rock On' it'll be a very routine Valetine's Day for me. But the night gets exciting when I get to see an intensely romantic film - 'Jodhaa-Akbar'. I want to see Mumbaikars bring back the secular spirit of the city on this day.'

Celina Jaitley: 'Though I'm working on Valentine's Day, I have a special show for the day on MTV for single people. I'll watch it and have a good laugh. My Valentine wish is to find true love.'

Shah Rukh to be quizzed over missing credit card

Mumbai Police will quiz Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to unravel the mystery of his missing credit card, which was recently found with three people who used it to buy branded apparel worth Rs.25,000.

According to Mulund police station senior police inspector Prakash Landge, the police have also sought the statements of all the transactions on Shah Rukh's card in the past few weeks to ascertain whether more fraudulent transactions have taken place.

"We are likely to get the statements from ICICI Bank within a day or two which will help the investigations. Also, Shah Rukh, who is abroad and returning early next week, has promised to co-operate with us in the matter," Landge told IANS. Last week, three Mumbai men indulged in a furious buying spree at a mega mall - Nirmal Lifestyle in Mulund, a suburb in northwest Mumbai - on a ICICI Bank credit card, which was later detected and confirmed as Khan's missing card, Landge said.

An alert sales executive noticed that though the name on the transaction slip was Shah Rukh's, it was signed by one of the youths, Vinay Vijay Tambe (22), a resident of Bhandup. He and James Paul Perumal (28) of Kanjurmarg and Shekhar Jadhav (44) of Bhandup had together bought branded apparel worth over Rs.25,000 from Shoppers Stop at the mall.

The sales executive immediately called the bank to verify the card's authenticity. He also informed the police.

Police reached the mall post haste and nabbed the trio. A local court has remanded them to police custody till Monday.

Landge said that the card belonged to Khan and it was still not clear whether he lost it or it was stolen. The arrested men claimed to have found it in a bag on the road in Santacruz Feb 7.

It’s regal cinema Jodha Akbar

jodhaakbarJodhaa Akbar
Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai
Bachchan
Direction: Ashutosh Gowariker
Rating: ★★★½

Let’s get one thing straight. . . Jodhaa Akbar is not a history lesson as the director makes amply clear in the first few cards. It is also not one of those films that call for a suspension of disbelief.

It is a romantic tale set in the 16th century about one of the most benevolent emperors of the Mughal era, Akbar (Hrithik Roshan), and his strategic-alliance wife, Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), the feisty and independent-minded daughter of a Rajputana king.

And for those who like their stories spiced up, there’s palace intrigue, conspiracies and their dramatic denouncements, epic-scale battle scenes and also, to keep TV serial watchers engrossed, there is a mother-in-law from hell.

It is grand no doubt: grand in vision, writing and execution (Haider Ali, Ashutosh Gowariker), perfect in production design (Nitin Chandrakant Desai) and regal and luxurious in costume and jewellery (Neeta Lulla). With some wonderfully restrained and accomplished acting on the part of the huge star cast, including those in bit roles (Sonu Sood, Ila Arun, Nikitin Dheer); Jodhaa Akbar is a spectacle that befits the period and the people it portrays.

Straightaway you are introduced to the young lad who will grow up to be Akbar. Battles are fought and the kingdom is expanded in his name but he is a boy who will not humiliate a vanquished foe and grows up to be humane, just and tolerant. When he is offered the daughter of a Rajput king in a peacekeeping alliance, and he realises that she will not let him touch her till she is in love with him, he sets out to win her heart with a touch so light it beats the heavy panting love of today, hands down.

Though the love story is at the core of the film, the progression of which gives the film its more beautiful moments, it does not in any way impede the flow of several parallel tracks involving the politics of the time—be it in the Mughal empire or the Rajputana kingdoms.

In fact, it is in the way the several strands come together that Jodhaa Akbar achieves its epic scale. Several scenes stay in your memory once the 200 minute film is over.

The highlights include the battle scenes, the one in which Akbar single-handedly trains a rogue elephant, the sword scenes between Jodhaa and her brother and later Jodhaa and Akbar, the food preparing scene in which Jodhaa makes a vegetarian meal for the court despite differences with Akbar’s surrogate mother (Ila Arun) and the scene in which Akbar comes to Jodhaa’s maternal home to take her back after a misunderstanding.

But the one that stays uppermost, if nothing else for sheer eye-candy value, is that of Akbar’s bare upper body as he practices his sword fighting in which the camera lovingly lingers on and captures every muscle and sinew of his perfectly toned and classically sculpted body.

Because this is shown just once, it leaves even more of an impact. Most of Jodhaa Akbar has been shot on sets created by Nitin Desai and its detailing and opulence are sights to behold.

Lighting these up, (cinematographer Kiiran Deohans), especially when the vista was large, must have been a logistical nightmare but the end result is spectacular yet wonderfully unobtrusive. A R Rahman and Javed Akhtar collaborate on the music, which produces some gems like Kwhaja mere Kwhaja, Shahenshah, Jashn e bahaaraa and In lamhon ke daaman mein.

These might not exactly be hummable in another context but work wonders in the film. Jodhaa Akbar is a fitting follow-up film to Lagaan and Swades and shows once again the honesty and perseverance director Ashutosh Gowariker brings to whatever he does.

Making a period film would be considered foolish by riders of the entertainment bandwagon but Gowariker, having set out to buck the system, leaves no stone unturned on any level be it the actors, sets or the scope of the film.

One just wishes he could have been more liberal with the editing scissors and trimmed the film by 30 minutes more. Several new talents match their histrionics with the lead actors and acquit themselves adequately but the film really belongs to Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Aishwarya looks ethereal and acts convincingly too but it is Hrithik who steals the show from everyone. He is absolutely brilliant as the vulnerable lover, the benevolent emperor, the swordsman and the fighter and more than worth the price of the ticket

Dia Mirza has a super-blast

diya

Mumbai: Dia Mirza is all set to change her prim image. She is acting in a comedy, Fruit Nut, directed by television's funny man Kunal Vijaykar.

She giggles: "It's meant to be a comedy. But it's an absolute horror becaus someone as wacky as Kunal is directing it. Boman Irani and Cyrus Broacha woo me in the movie. Can you imagine! I am having a super-blast. It's my first full-fledged comedy.

And it also involves a lot of physical comedy, which I've never done. It has been challenging, and finally a lot of fun to just let go. The smallest of actors in Fruit Nut are seasoned troupers, so I am constantly on my toes."

Dia says she's tired of being asked why the big chance eludes her. "How can I answer that? For some people, it happens quickly. For others it takes time. I'm lucky to be getting roles in spite of so many unsuccessful films. I'm still getting offers from people like Naseeruddin Shah and Shojeet Sircar, who is making a movie with Amitabh Bachchan.

The fact that someone like Naseer thinks of casting me is a big compliment to me." Dia sees 2008 as a huge turning point in her career. "The line-up of films is versatile. And there're going to be many more lead parts. I think I am going to take giant steps this year. Even in a crazy film like Cash, I carried myself with dignity." She has several films in the pipeline.

"I'm part of Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4 though I'm one of the sane members of the cast. That's sad because I'd have happily played one of the nuts. It's been good fun because I got to work with artistes I've always admired like Irrfan Khan, Arshad Warsi and Juhi Chawla. I adore Juhi, to be working with her is like a dream come true."

I am looking forward to being in love: Vidya Balan

vidyabalan01_400

Mumbai: Actress Vidya Balan says the fun quotient is getting better for her with every movie. "First Parineeta , then Salaam-e-Ishq, followed by Hey Babyy and now Bhool Bhulaiya with Priyadarshan. All of them were loads of fun," says the actress.

The actress can't stop giggling when she remembers the shooting of Hey Babyy in Australia and can't stop giggling about it.

"Akshay, and director Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, are a delight. All the three share great vibes with me. Sajid Khan and I have been buddies for years.

It was one group of mad-hatters. Fun was the main issue in Australia. Work was in automation," the actress said.

One of the things that Vidya is looking forward to this year is being in love. Remind her that it's only healthy for a young attractive single girl like her to be linked to co-stars and Vidya sighs: "Yes, I am young and single and most certainly looking forward to being in love. Unfortunately, both John Abraham and Akshay Kumar are attached. And that creates more of an embarrassment for them than me. Come to think of it, where are the eligible single guys in our industry? I'll have to look elsewhere."

Vidya shot for Hey Babyy in Australia for four months. "Akshay was a major prankster. I was on tenterhooks all the time. One did not know what Akshay was up to. My one ambition in life is to get even with him for all the pranks that he has played on me. Shooting has seldom been so much fun. I didn't even realise how these two schedules for the two completely contrasting films, Hey Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiya, passed off," she said.

As for her involvement with co-stars, Vidya is aware that tongues will wag all over again.

"I'm prepared for stories to filter back. I've gone through this before. During Salaam-e-Ishq, they linked me to John Abraham for the same reason because people saw us having so much fun together. Now there is gossip because Akshay and I had a great time," she said.

For Bhool Bhulaiya, Vidya had to do some serious heart-in-the-mouth classical dancing.

"As a child, I learnt Bharatanatyam. Then I learnt Kathak for a couple of months a few years ago. That's it. But I had to do one elaborate classical dance and I was so scared. I believe it has turned out well, thanks to choreographer Pony Verma. Pony has done a lot of songs with Priyan, who told my Dad that he is happy with the way I've danced. I truly enjoyed it. Thank god," she said.

Sanjay Bhansali will tie the knot with Vaibhavi Merchant

e_35_1.jpgDirector Sanjay Leela Bhansali and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant are slated to tie the knot at the end of next month.

According to a family source who did not wish to be identified, the wedding is to take place in the last week of March after Sanjay returns from Paris where he is working on a musical, Padmavati, for the French opera house, Theatre du Chatelet.

If sources are to be believed Vaibhavi’s family is quite excited about the marriage and wedding preparations are on in full swing. Bhansali and Vaibhavi Merchant have been working together for several years with Vaibhavi choreographing for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Saawariya.

But it’s only recently, as reported by this newspaper first, that the twe_35_1a.jpgo have been linked romantically.
In the last couple of months the couple, quite reclusive otherwise, have been seen together publicly and Vaibhavi’s closeness to Bhansali’s family was made obvious at the premiere of his film Saawariya.

“She walked into the premiere of the film along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother Leela and sister Bela Saigal and it was more than obvious that Vaibhavi was definitely more than a professional colleague of Bhansali’s,” said our source. While Bhansali and Vaibhavi were themselves not available for comment, Sanjay’s sister Bela, when contaced laughed off the news as mere rumours.
